HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s a New Year and a new Bullet Journal for me.
Long time no speak. It’s been a while since I’ve posted let alone posted about my bullet journal. If you follow my blog and social media you might have noticed I have been a bit quiet over the last few weeks, there’s been a lot going on, life just gets in the way sometimes.
I’ve not posted about the ol’ BuJo for a while because I wasn’t really happy with it at all.. the end of last year I was getting really fed up with it and I was barely using it, I couldn’t order things in any logical way, the pages were all over the place because some were lined, some were plain and some were squared and I found myself much more drawn to the squared pages for ease of laying things out but I just didn’t have enough of them.
I decided to start afresh with the new year, I treated myself to a Leuchtturm 1917, a black dotted one, and I tell you what, it is truly life changing! Why didn’t I do it sooner!! I now see the hype and why it’s the most popular choice for bullet journalling it just makes life so easy, it’s so tidy and a pleasure to get into and I’m ready to go for it again! (Although I’m terribly frightened to go wrong because I can’t rip pages out of this one like I did with my previous journal, but life isn’t perfect so my journal won’t always be either and I need to accept that!)
Already I’m seeing the value in the index and the page numbers! When I create more pages like blog post ideas and things I’ll be able to quickly refer to them, something I wasn’t really able to do in my last one.
I started things off with an overview of the year, just to quickly flick to see where I’m at, any birthdays, bank holidays or events etc. I had this in my last one and I did find myself referring to it often, more so than say the calendar in my phone.
I’ve set out some goals for the year, their quite vague because to be honest I don’t know what’s happening this year now as there has been a lot of changes in the last couple of weeks, things I thought would happen now won’t be so I’m focusing on myself, my health and wellbeing being the most important! In order to do that I want to focus on doing things that make me happy, getting out and exploring, reading (I love reading but hate choosing books, please leave any recommendations in the comments!!) growing – quite vague but I’d love to grow my blog it’s something I enjoy, but also within myself! I don’t know how I’m going to do that yet but we’ll see, and also I want to be more minimalist – I have so many possessions that I really don’t need, I want to declutter my life and my mind and focus on more important things.
Most of my goals aren’t tangible or measurable so I’ve kept it simple with just a bookshelf to keep track of the books I read throughout the year and some social media tracking with some goals I’d like to hit for each one.
Just a top line view of each month, details of birthdays, events, holidays etc, I can pop them in here so when I come to do my monthly logs I can quickly jot in any major things and events.
I’m not quite sure what I’ll do here, but I want to focus on the good things in my life so I just want somewhere I can write down the best memories from the month so I can look back on them.

If you’ve seen my previous bullet journal posts you’ll recognise this layout, this is a layout that works for me, a top line month view, for details from my planning ahead section or things I know I’m doing. I can make notes of things to carry over to next month or of things I need to do but with no set date
I really like my habit tracking layout, it’s one of my favourite parts of bullet journalling, so again I’ve kept that the same but a bit more simple – one thing I like about the dotted Leuchtturm is I don’t feel you need to draw everything in whereas my last one needed more help to make it clear because of the squares and lines.
I’ve added a mood tracker, to track my health and wellbeing goal, I can get a quick view of how I’ve been feeling that month and associate it with events or other habits and see what is affecting my mood. Good mood will be green, meh mood will be yellow and low mood will be red.
Then comes the weekly logs, I’ve kept these quite simple, I’ve not got an awful lot to fill them with at the moment and I’m still not sure what I want to do with my weekly logs, so we’ll see. Any posts you have on weekly logs would really help because it’s always been something I’m not happy with in my bullet journal so please share them below if you have any.
